What is Profhilo?

Profhilo is an injectable skin hydrating and remodeling gel from Italian company IBSA. These products are sometimes called “injectible moisturisers” or “skin boosters”.

How to prepare for Profhilo treatment

 Before the treatment, it is important to cleanse your skin and remove all makeup. You should also avoid using any oils, lotions, or perfumes on the day of your treatment. If you have a history of cold sores, you should take prescribed antiviral medication for 5 days prior to your treatment, to prevent any outbreaks.

What to expect during and after treatment

First, your skin will be cleansed and a numbing cream applied to reduce any discomfort. Then small amounts of the hyaluronic acid gel are injected into specific areas of your face using a very fine needle. You may feel a slight prickling sensation as the needle is injected, but this should only last for a few minutes. After the injections, the skin is massaged to help evenly distribute the gel.

Most patients experience minimal discomfort during the procedure and can return to their normal activities immediately afterwards. There may be some mild redness and swelling, but this should subside within a few hours. Sometimes there may be some small bumps and bruises at the injection points, but these disappear within a week or so and can be hidden with makeup.

The results of profhilo usually start to show after about 2 weeks and you should notice a gradual improvement in skin quality, smoothness and radiance.

Which treatment is better?

Both procedures give very nice results for skin improvement. Profhilo is a gentler treatment where the concentrated HA plumps up and rejuvenates the skin tissue for a fresh, glowing complexion, whilst Morpheus8 stimulates a healing response with microneedling and also remodels the underlying fat layer with heat energy.

Morpheus produces a more significant lifting and tightening effect which is especially beneficial for mature skin. Both treatments can be combined at intervals of 3 or 4 weeks apart for even more effective results.
